Design and Data Analysis of End-Line Survey and Impact Evaluation
NELPS implemented the North East Rural Livelihood Project (NERLP), supported by the World Bank. The project’s objective was “to improve livelihoods, especially that of women, unemployed youth and the most disadvantaged, in four North Eastern states.” The project involved five significant components– social empowerment, economic empowerment, partnership development, project management, and livelihood and value chain developments.
The project development objectives were achieved by building community-based organizations and developing partnerships with the government and other institutions for various services, including skill building, credit, insurance, and market extension. The key focus was on minority and marginalized communities. Some activities under the project were forming collectives such as self-help groups, village organizations, and producer groups, linkage to credit, improvement of natural resource management, and addressing youth unemployment.
Sambodhi worked as this project’s monitoring and evaluation partner. Its primary responsibilities were to monitor data collection and design the evaluation concurrently. Sambodhi also developed training collaterals and questionnaires and conducted field monitoring. Around 10,000 households were surveyed as a part of the study. Data analysis was done using statistical analysis packages. Sambodhi was also responsible for distilling the study’s learnings into a report.
