Evaluation of ShaalaKosh Pilot by Sambodhi
ShaalaKosh aims to create a unified value chain of information about students, teachers, and schools, covering end-to-end lifecycles of these stakeholders. The Pilot attempt was a one-time effort to conceptualize a platform that evolves based on every user’s requirements, ensuring all stated benefits from a common technological approach.
Considering the scalability and sustainability of the pilot initiative, Central Square Foundation aimed to understand the enabling factors for ShaalaKosh in the long term and explore how the management information system can enable quality education service delivery and learning environment. This is where Sambodhi’s research-based assessment came into play.
The study’s primary objective was:
- to assess the design of the program and implementation strategy of the pilot for completeness, utility, robustness, suitability, and sustainability,
- to technically audit the platform and its processes and identify any shortfalls, limitations, and challenges, and
- to assess the pilot’s utilization, performance (planned vs. actual, benchmark with other platforms), impact (stakeholders and beneficiaries), sustainability, and scalability.
Sambodhi finalized the evaluation design. A cross-sectional design was adopted for the study to portray a snapshot of the prevalent situation across multiple geographies. A mixed-method approach was followed with quantitative and qualitative inquiry methods. The collected data was analyzed and triangulated using statistical packages like SPSS, STATA, etc.
