We are looking for a dynamic individual to join our communications team at Sambodhi as a Content Strategist to lead development and strategy in a research-driven environment. This role involves creating and managing high-quality, engaging content across various platforms to support the organization’s mission of driving data-informed decision-making. This means writing, editing, copyediting, and proofreading content in different formats to ensure precision and accuracy while maintaining readability. The individual should be adept at writing both long- and short-form content and comfortable copyediting, proofreading, and writing content for reports, decks, brochures, flyers, etc.

Job Responsibilities:
The candidate will perform the following key functions:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with the organization’s research objectives and outreach goals.
  • Conduct rigorous editing and proofreading of all content to ensure clarity, consistency, and accuracy.
  • Fact-check data, figures, and statistics included in reports and publications to ensure the accuracy of all communications.
  • Perform structural edits to improve flow, readability, and coherence, ensuring complex ideas are clearly communicated.
  • Plan and manage content calendars for websites, blogs, publications, and newsletters.
  • Leverage SEO principles to optimize digital content for better visibility and engagement.
  • Work with the PR team to produce opinion pieces in collaboration with researchers.
  • Work with designers, video producers, and external vendors to create multimedia content such as videos, podcasts, and interactive reports.
  • Develop thought leadership content, including opinion pieces, blogs, and articles for external publications and media houses.
  • Ensure all content is aligned with the organization’s brand tone, voice, and style.
  • Continuously assess the effectiveness of content and implement improvements to drive engagement.

Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience:
2-3 years of experience in content strategy, writing, or communications, preferably in the research, development, or nonprofit sectors.

Personal Competencies:

  • Strong writing and editing skills with a keen ability to translate complex information into accessible language.
  • Experience in digital content creation, SEO, and content performance tracking.
  • Familiarity with research topics, particularly in areas such as sustainability, livelihoods, climate change, gender, or related sectors, is a plus.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
