Over the last decade, there has been a concentrated thrust globally towards improving water and sanitation services, as well as basic hygiene practices.

Sambodhi supports these global efforts by using data and customized analytics to improve WASH initiatives and its outcomes. We work collaboratively with a wide range of organizations and professionals from multiple sectors, including communications, econometrics, life sciences, and technology— to develop cross-sector perspectives and solutions to address evolving challenges.

Access to toilets and the convenience, safety, and self-respect of women in Rural India

After six years of successful implementation of the SBM-G, the Ministry of Jal Shakti, in collaboration with the UNICEF, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), and Sambodhi, conducted a study to understand how the construction of toilets has impacted women and men in rural India.

Process Documentation and Evaluation of BCC Activities on Sanitation at Religious Gatherings (Kumbh Mela)

Funded by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), the Behavior Change Communication (BCC) intervention on sanitation during Kumbh Mela in Haridwar and Ujjain included dissemination of BCC messages through audio and visuals as well as through sermons by religious leaders on sanitation awareness and toilet utilization.

Process Evaluation of Successful Approaches in Swacch Bharat Mission-Gramin

Sambodhi evaluated the 17 highest-performing districts in terms of achieving the Swacch Bharat Mission (SBM) objectives. Our scope of work for these 17 high-performing districts was focused on reviewing the planning and implementation activities, as well as communicating the results in the community.

Assessment of Sustainability of Outcomes in NGP Awarded Gram Panchayats (Sample from All India 2009, 2010, and 2011 winners)

In 2003, the Government of India launched the Nirmal Gram Puraskar (NGP) to motivate and ensure greater participation of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) in sanitation. The NGP was a financial incentive scheme that awarded local governments at the village, block, district, and state levels for achieving total sanitation.

Developing Monitoring, Learning & Evaluation (MLE) framework for Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) for Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) Urban

Sambodhi was at the forefront of designing a comprehensive MLE framework which included a rigorous compilation of theory of change, logical framework, and learning systems.

Sanitation Rating Framework for Government office buildings

The project was commissioned by the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) Project Management Unit managed by KPMG and WASH Institute. The objective of the study was to develop a measurable, sustainable, and certifiable rating framework that provided the tools to rate the sanitation and cleanliness of government office buildings.
