  •  Describe project design tools
  •  Describe the programme logic model

  •  Develop results-chain based on the programme logic model
  •  Develop measurable indicators for the identified results
  •  Develop a performance monitoring plan
  •  Implement the performance monitoring plan and monitor and evaluate the results

Why this training?

In contemporary development interventions, more often than not, the primary focus of implementation efforts has been on what was done, what was produced and what was spent. These are termed as inputs, activities and outputs in Project Management terminology. While accurate and timely information on these aspects is critical, it is not always sufficient to inform us of the progress made towards the intended conditions in terms of resolution of developmental issues. Decision makers need to look beyond these basic levels to focus on actual results or the changes envisioned and the progress made towards their attainment. By precisely defining the results, regularly collecting information on progress towards them, and taking timely corrective action, implementers can better manage interventions to optimize attainment of developmental results.

Results-based management (RBM) is a life-cycle approach to management that integrates strategy, people, resources, processes, and measurements. RBM helps improve decision making, accountability, and transparency in development organizations. The approach focuses on achieving outcomes, implementing performance measurement, learning, and adapting, as well as reporting performance.

The two-day training programme on Results Based Management of Development Interventions aims to increase knowledge and augment skills of development practitioners for enabling result based management of interventions that they are engaged in conceptualizing and operationalizing.
