Evaluation Conclave Building bridges : Use of Evaluation for decision making and policy influence

The year 2015 has been declared as the International Year of Evaluation to promote and advocate the need for evidence created by evaluation for better decision making and policy influence.

The Community of Evaluators in collaboration with EvalPartners and Parliamentarians’ Forum are organizing the The Evaluation Conclave. In its third year, it is based on the theme of Building Bridges: Use of Evaluation for Decision making and policy influence. The event will be hosted from 23rd-27th November, 2015, Yak and Yeti Hotel, Kathmandu, Nepal.

The event will host 32 panels, 17 workshops, 4 demonstrations where knowledge and information will be exchanged by our esteemed guests, such as, Mr. Robert Chambers, Martha Mcguire, Marco Segone, , representatives from 3ie, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and many more.

The conclave will facilitate a platform where some key areas, such as Evidence uptake and use, The Future of WASH sector, Art and science of Evaluation, Balancing Accountability & learning in Evaluation, the status of National Evaluation Policies Worldwide, Visions for EvalYouth, Different Perceptions on How to Develop Evaluation Capacities Worldwide, Effective Use of Logic Model and many more will be discussed and spoken about.

Round-table Conference on WASH & Book launch of "Is it really clean? - Creating a WASH index"

Sambodhi hosted the first evaluation conclave at New Delhi, India. The conclave was a platform for sharing experiences and training across the region. Designed and executed by Sambodhi, the conclave brought together sector experts, leading practitioners, thought leaders and development professionals from across the globe. A conclave, unlike a traditional conference, emphasizes the importance of sharing information in large and small groups and taking the acquired knowledge back to the participant’s “home” community. Participants from across the globe from various sectors attended the conclave.

Roundtable conference on ‘Innovations in Measurement and Evaluation Approaches

Technical Support and Data-driven Solutions for Impact’, New Delhi, 2015 The roundtable was organized with the objective to assess the need for enhanced techniques that has led to the adoption of various innovative approaches in M&E domain. To appreciate and discuss such innovations in evaluation approaches the roundtable focused on reviewing the trends that have emerged from working in complex and changing environments, and the ways in which evaluation has evolved to stay credible and useful thereby exploring the possibilities of application of data for smarter decision making.

Roundtable on Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation of Decentralized Renewable Rural Energy Projects, New Delhi, 2014

The Roundtable was organized with the objective to bring together representatives from different stakeholder groups in the decentralized renewable energy sector, to start a dialogue for ideation and to develop a shared understanding of the key MLE imperatives and best practices relevant to the sector. This was attempted through a case study of the Rockefeller Foundation supported project SPEED (Smart Power for Environmentally-sound Economic Development) and other similar projects from the sector. The SPEED program aims to create a positive impact on the lives of poor rural communities in India through delivery of more affordable, reliable and clean energy services to enhance livelihood security and improve overall quality of life. Sambodhi is the MLE partner for SPEED.

The Evaluation Conclave: Evaluation for Development, Kathmandu, 2013

The Community of Evaluators (CoE) in collaboration with Community of Evaluators Nepal (CoE-Nepal), hosted the Second Evaluation Conclave in Kathmandu, Nepal. The objective of the conclave was to bring together thinkers, commissioners and practitioners of evaluation in an interactive forum to discuss, deliberate and share advancements in the theory and practice of evaluation. More than 300 participants from across the globe gathered attended the Second Global Conclave.

The Second Evaluation Conference: Evidence to Policy, New Delhi, 2011

Sambodhi organized the second South Asian evaluation conference on the theme “Evidence to Policy.” The organization tasks included design and development of the conference, development of conference agenda, preparation of background material, identification of resource persons and participants, follow-up and the organization of the event. Held at the India Habitat Centre, the event saw participation of around 160 participants.

ICT for Monitoring, Evaluation and Information Systems: Exploring New Frontiers, New Delhi, 2011

Sambodhi organized the conference on the theme “ICT for Monitoring, Evaluation and Information Systems: Exploring New Frontiers.” The organization tasks included design and development of the conference, development of conference agenda, preparation of background material, identification of resource persons and participants, follow-up and the organization of the event. Held at the India Habitat Centre, the event saw participation of around 180 participants including researchers, academicians and research students.
